Texas Sheet Cake



  1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Grease and flour a cookie sheet pan.
  3. Next, in a small mixing bowl, sift 2 cups of flour, 2 cups of sugar, and 1/2 tsp of baking soda together. Set aside.
  4. In a saucepan, combine 1/2 cup butter, 4 tablespoons of cocoa and 1 cup of water. Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring constantly.
  5. Pour boiling cocoa mixture over the flour mixture.
  6. Add remaining ingredients. Mix well.
  7. Pour the batter onto the sheet pan, making sure it is evenly covering the pan.
  8. Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes, or until an inserted knife comes out clean.
  9. To make the frosting, bring 4 tablespoons of cocoa, 1 stick of butter, and 6 tablespoons of brewed coffee to a boil in a small saucepan.
  10. Add vanilla and remove from the heat.
  11. Add the powdered sugar slowly until the frosting reaches your desired consistency. You can also add nuts if you want them.
  12. Spread the frosting over the warm cake.
